Web Sites

Over the years I have designed and played with numerous websites.   This one, andygarrett.net, has probably been through 10 or more iterations alone.   However some site have have a bit more of a consistency to them.   Here are some of the highlights in my web portfolio:

fotf Friends of the Frontier
Date Launched: 2004

This is site we (David, Josh, and I) put together for a program at Chief Logan (scout camp).  It has been alive and kicking for sometime with a constant flow of traffic.  I learned ASP (a server-side programming language) and was able to build custom forums and tools for it.   The program has consistently 200-300 new members a summer and that is helpful for us to be able to track and communicate with those new members as well as the old on a regular basis.

I have some design ideas for an updated site I want to rollout here in 2009.
passion Passion & Power
Date Launched: 2006

Passion and Power is an evangelistic DVD celebrating women in sport.   AIA gathered the stories of women from all over the world and packaged it.    Lindsay Sullivan, a friend and co-worker, produced the DVD, and asked for my help on the website.

The flash on the site worked well in the intro.
gdc Global Data Center
Date Launched: 2007

This site is for AIA staff only, but I learned a lot from building it.  It was my first C# .NET website, so that was huge learning curve.   We continue to add new modules to it today as it is the hub for all the sport teams to use it.
btu Beyond the Ultimate
Date Launched: 2007

BTU was first used as an outreach for the 2007 SuperBowl.  It was advertised in USA today, and had 10,000+ visitors the first week.   I have since taken BTU and created a dynamic website that now host 150+ athletes from across the world.

We are going to begin to design sites for specific countries in the fall of 2008.
sportlinc SportLinc
Date Launched: 2008

AIA has revamped its ministry to students on campuses with no staff, be re-launching SportLinc.  It's mission is to resource student-leaders to lead effective ministries on their campuses where we do not have staff.   It's resource centered for students to learn and apply things that AIA has learned over the years.

I was able to learn two key new things on this site: URL-rewriting, and Google Map integration.
apps Application Center
Date Launched:  2008

This is a update to an existing site where all applications begin.  AIA will process 1500+ applications this year as it attempts to take 55 teams out in 2009.
